Three Schools Finally Found Winning Sandwich Creations

Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), La Consolacion College Manila (LCCM) and Centro Escolar University (CEU-Manila) have already named the team that will represent their schools in the finals round of Gardenia’s Next Big Sandwich Hit.

After the tough challenge of coming up with unique, delectable and nutritious sandwich recipes in a one-hour time limit and present it with a sandwich stall idea in mind, Dianne Coleen Edillor and Arnel Lontac of Team Irresistible from PUP proved that these things are manageable and nothing is impossible. From a number of audition entries, the Jalamiento and Bouquet Sandwiches of Edillor-Lontac tandem stood out from the rest and were able to impress the judges with instantaneous responses on their business concept.

“What we really want is a once-in-a-blue-moon experience we can gain from joining the contest,” Edillor shared when asked the reason why they participated in NBSH.

Lontac disclosed his extreme happiness, together with his partner during the announcement of the winning team, “We don’t expect that we will now represent our school in the finale of Gardenia’s sandwich-making competition. This is really a big challenge for us!”

But the team Fathin of LCCM has a different story to tell. Kristina Jordan and Wilmarie Jugao were determined to give their best efforts to own the title before graduating from their school. Their California Maki and Cheese Cake sandwich creations lead them to be the top choice of the judges. “We deviate from the typical, traditional sandwiches to get the attention of the judges then came up with dessert-inspired recipes,” Jordan and Jugao explained the idea behind their winning entries.

And who says that cooking or even sandwich-making are just for ladies? Representatives of the Centro Escolar University, Robin Archild Padilla and Christian Hernandez of the Heavyweights Team, proved that they have what it takes to be the owners of the next sandwich stall that will be a definite hit in their university.

For whatever the inspirations of their sandwich creations are, everyone can enjoy their delectable recipes in Mercato Midnight Bazaar as all teams are given a chance to sell their own sandwiches at Mercato Centrale in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig.
